Natural Resource Management and Land Reform .

Natural Resource Management and Land Reform
Namibia’s land and its natural resources provide the basis for rural livelihoods, tourism development and agricultural productivity. Sustainable resource management, improved and fair access to land and enhanced land productivity are thus essential for the country’s national economy and its political stability. Within this context and with a focus on regional level support, DED professionals work with both Government and Non-Government Organizations and provide capacity building, technical advice, coordination and management assistance. The DED contributions consist of:
Support of Communal Land Reform
DED professionals support regional offices of the Ministry of Lands and Resettlement (MLR) and communal land boards with GIS-based land registration, land administration and land use planning
Community Forestry in Namibia
In a project cooperation with the Namibian Ministry of Agriculture Water and Forestry/Directorate of Forestry (DoF) and the German Development Bank (KfW), DED professionals assist with regional coordination and capacity building for community-based forest management and income generation
Integration of Community Forests and Communal Conservancies
In cooperation with the Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF), DED facilitates stakeholder cooperation and coordination in order to harmonize different legal and technical requirements for community-based forest and wildlife management
